post your comments about the films!

Ciao a tutti,

plese keep on posting your comments about the films of the series, everytime we get one is like Xmas (or la befana, for some of us...). Post your comments just clicking on "comments" at the end of this post or of the one related to the Fall 2007 series.
I always wanted to post a link with a great NYTimes review of Crialese's film NUOVOMONDO (or Mondonuovo like some of you "re-baptized" it..:-). Here it is. There you can also watch a nice clip from the film...in case you missed the MLB premiere...

LA SCONOSCIUTA could win an Oscar...!!!

Ciao a tutti,
this is a great piece of news: a film in which we believed, the film that opened our series this Fall is the Italian film chosen to participate to the Oscar award as best foreign film! I am talking about "La sconosciuta" by Tornatore. I just read in the Corriere today:

L'Italia candida Tornatore all'Oscar
«La sconosciuta» si è imposto per otto voti a sette su "Mio fratello è figlio unico" di Daniele Luchetti
ROMA - "La sconosciuta" di Giuseppe Tornatore è il film che l'Italia ha deciso di candidare per corsa all'Oscar come miglior film straniero. All'ottava votazione della commissione, il film di Tornatore si è imposto per otto voti a sette su "Mio fratello è figlio unico" di Daniele Luchetti.

Italian Film Series 2007 presents: ITALIAN CINEMA FOR THE NEW MILLENNIUM

Ciao a tutti,
here is the new program for FALL 07,
have fun!!!!!!

As instructors of Italian, we decided to choose for our students and colleagues extremely recent films related to contemporary Italy or narrating Italian history as a metaphor for today's condition. Just to give you an idea, the first 4 films, in particular, have been suggested by Professors of Italian at the 2007 AAIS Conference in Colorado Springs in their papers' presentations, which is an assurance of quality and relevance. Some of the films are intense, and visually demanding, others are lighter. But all of them are good to improve your Italian and to increase your knowledge of Italian society and artistic potential!
When you post a comment, please don't forget to write clearly the title of the film you are writing about!! Please come and have fun:
